Android phone won't load profile with SM

Hi All,

I manage a client who uses his android to connect to company email.  Due to a policy, he's required to have SM on his phone.  When he goes to his gmail goes to sign into his account, he is prompted to install SM.  We install it on his phone, then enter the network id, then specify his work email as the email to use.  It continues to say it's unable to setup the profile.

Normally when staff adds their email, SM installs and created a new profile.  The device is a Doogee Vmax Plus.  Not sure what would prevent his device from setting up when its seems its pulling the profile.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Does the phone support "Android Enterprise"?  Not all devices do.  Only those that do will work.

I guess I thought if the phone was pulling the policy and installing SM it does.  I haven't had to configure devices for Enterprise on the network in a few months.  I'll review the doc.

I read the document posted.  For the staff member, we were going to deploy a BYOD which I have seen create a work profile.  The issue is that, there is nothing specific on the phone that tells me why it can't create the profile or that it doesn't support Android Enterprise.

When I have looked at SM logs before, all I really was able to view was if the profile was pulled or if an application was not installing.

That sounds frustrating—especially if it’s tied to a Samsung-based enterprise or security setting like Knox or Secure Mode. Sometimes when an Android phone won’t load a profile with SM, it could be due to a corrupted user profile, a failed software update, or an issue with MDM (Mobile Device Management) policies applied remotely. If you haven’t already, booting into Safe Mode might help isolate if it’s an app conflict. Otherwise, clearing cache via Recovery Mode or performing a re-enrollment through the device management console (if it’s company-owned) might be necessary. Definitely worth checking any recent updates or admin-side changes too—similar to how small tweaks in apps like fc mobile mod menu can cause unexpected behavior if not configured properly.

I tried searching for "Doogee Vmax Plus" in Google's official Enterprise Device Catalog but no luck. This catalog includes devices that are Android Enterprise recommended.

I've had a case open since Mar 21 2023 regarding this issue.

Still no fix.

Apparently there is a workaround though for some users to enable admin authentication:

Hi All,

Just now seeing updates to this thread.  Thanks for your input above.  I searched for "Doogee Vmax Plus" as well and I didn't see it listed.  I have never actually heard of it.  I did some log troubleshooting provided by Meraki support and two errors did come up in the logs that I thought I might share:

1. W GmsSigVfyr: java.security.GeneralSecurityException: Package is not signed

2. DevicePolicyManager: Cannot add more managed profiles.

I also found this article online: https://www.einfochips.com/blog/how-to-obtain-googles-gms-license-for-android-devices/

Though if he is able to download from the play store, I don't know that this is the issue.  I just happened to find this.

I did find a profile on the phone and removed it for the user.  When we go to gmail and select his account, SM asks which account to use, and that's when we choose the work one.  Where the issue starts.

The doc that swap tuck provided, I'll check that out.  At this point, I really want to know the root cause if possible.  I'll stay tuned to more updates to this.
