iPad enrollment issues

Moving some iPad Air2's from Lightspeed to Meraki MDM

Have factory reset two of them.
Moved them to the correct MDM withing Apple School Manager

They show up in ADE in meraki.

When I turn them on

Enter Location, Language and Wifi detail

It goes to the "Remote Management" screen.

I click on "next" and then rather than proceeding it takes me to a screen to manually download the profile. Click on profile and it fails with this error

Authentication is turned off at the moment to keep things simple

Have tried on local wifi and hotspot from phone

If you want to quickly test without a full reset, open Safari on your iPad and manually try
https://n260.meraki.com/apple_mdm/enroll?enrollment_token=... (copy the full URL if visible in the error)

If the download also fails, the profile may be expired or invalid, and regenerating the profile/token is the ideal next step.

As the iPad in question is stuck "mid-enrollment" unable to access the browser to do this.

The enrollment profile was brand new this morning!  tried a new one and same error

If you are trying to access your corporate Wi-Fi, try using another Wi-Fi or mobile data as it may be a firewall issue.

@Stuart2

Have you created and applied settings on the ADE screen to the iPads? It feels like a step is missing there.

Actually looking through things, have you tried it without setting an Enrollment Redirect URL? I've never set one of those up and I wonder if that is your issue.

Yep tried and even redid an tried again!

I feel like the Enrollment Redirect URL is where the issue is coming from. That's the only difference I see between our setups.

Try disabling self service portal  Systems Manager > General and try again.

@BlakeRichardson and @Stuart2 ,

I just tested this out to see if I could recreate the issue and I was able to, once I put an Enrollment redirect URL into my settings. I was able to authenticate but got stuck at the profile install screen in the first message. I created the exact same profile without the Enrollment redirect URL and everything behaves correctly.

Don't forget that once the settings are pushed to a device the only way to test new settings is to factory/iTunes reset the iPad even though the iPad is not completely setup. Deleting the settings and then assigning new will not work until the iPad is factory/iTunes reset. I tested this out to make sure I was giving accurate information as well.

I have a MacBook sitting on my desk with Apple Configurator with a blueprint configured on it just for making testing like this easy so I just click a button and the iPad is factory reset.

It sounds like you've correctly moved the iPad Air 2 devices from Lightspeed to Meraki in Apple School Manager, and they appear in ADE in Meraki as expected. However, after the factory reset and setup, the iPads stop at the "Remote Management" screen and attempt to download the profile manually, which then fails.
