migrate licenses to a new company

Hi All

We have a business unit that is in the mid of relocating away from us into their own company, previously when they were still with us, we setup their devices and license under a new network zone in our Meraki. Since they will be establishing on their own, I understand for physical devices I could simply un-register from my inventory, and they will be able to claim from their own Meraki dashboard but how do I transfer the licenses to their new Meraki dashboard? Please note that aside knowing their customer number and support passcode I don't have any access to their Meraki.

A temp solution is to ASK them to add you as an ADMIN to their new org just long enough to move the devices/licenses.  Once that is completed, they can remove you (ADMIN) from their network/organization.

Well, you need to be admin in both organization.

Initially it was only possible to do it with a support case.

Now it should be possible, but as I checked today, the other organization did not show up...so this maid be temporarly.

Check out this document

https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Licensing/How_to_Request_a_License_Transfer

hope this helps

I don't own the destination organization. It is a new company. I am only the admin for my own source company

As mentioned to do it yourself, you need to be admin on both organization.

see here the part out of the documentation:

Only organization administrators with full read/write permissions on both source and destination organizations will be able to request a license transfer.

The full org administrator requesting the transfer must have the same email address on the source and destination organizations.

If you can not get admin in both orgs...get in contact with your meraki contact.

Hi RWlech

That was exactly what the Meraki support suggested too. I am going to try this route which sound alot more straight forward. Thank you for your suggestion
