Static assign management ips to the equipment?

I currently have a ticket where the user wants me to change the dynamically assigned equipment ips to specific and static ones.

The management vlan is set with local dhcp.  I was thinking of just setting up reservations and then rebooting the devices one by one to accomplish this.

Does this sound like a safe approach to this request?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you.

Either will work.

DHCP reservation is 'safer' only in the sense that if you make a mistake, it should still be able to get an address.

That said either way you can always use the local device page to reset the IP.

Just as much work setting static IP's via the dashboard or setting static reservations via DHCP. If they are not bothered about devices having specific IP's then you could just use a DHCP.

What are they wanting to achieve?

Hi Blake,  The person requesting this wants the 8 switches onsite to have the ips assigned in top down order in that management vlan scope.  We use templates so not sure if the local admin page for the switches would be an option.

So my plan to do this by adding the reservations one at a time and rebooting the switches sounds like a reasonable approach?

Can you please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you.
