Done w/ Meraki

So I had a few spare MV cams hanging around the house I wasn't using. Decided to sell one on eBay that I wasn't using it and I had failed to obfuscate the serial. Naturally someone on eBay took advantage and claimed it. I only became aware after a seller was asking why I was selling claimed devices and would be happy to buy it for "parts". I reached out to Meraki and naturally they refuse to help, despite the fact that they would see (through my inventory history) that I am the original owner and licensee of this camera. Now I have a worthless camera that the fraudulent eBay business wants to "buy from me for parts or scrap". Man talk about beyond aggravating. At the very least Id love to see Meraki take action against those orgs that have suspected stolen serials and ban their Dashboards. Man oh man.

Meraki, you need to implement a better safeguard some way shape or form.

@imome9a do you not have any evidence of buying the camera in the first place, even the email from Meraki that you can use to claim it would do?  They can then reset it back to you.

Hi cmr, I appreciate the response. I wish I did but its been too long and I don't have any emails on it any longer. I was hoping someone from Meraki could just check my dashboard inventory to validate the serial as that's the only saving grace I had unfortunately.

@imome9a  validating based on your dashboard isn't an option, whats to stop the same process being used by the person who stole the information? Proof of purchase is the only method for a reason.

Sorry for the situation you are in but think of it as a life lesson and not to trust anyone on the internet.

Try claiming the serial number back.  Maybe you'll get lucky and they haven't added it to a dashboard.

Pretend to sell it to them, get their details, and then make a complaint of theft against them.

I know this sucks, but this issue isn't just a Meraki issue but any company that locks equipment once it's claimed.
