Cloud monitoring for Catalyst - "the next generation" ?

Cloud monitoring for Catalyst - "the next generation" ?

With the introduction of 17.15.1.9 (or 17.15.1m1 as the IOS-XE version is called "on box"), we got the tunnel native in IOS-XE (like on the 9800 WLCs).

But this, so far on the switches, seems to only work for being used for management, not monitoring.

How will monitoring be accomplished using the "cloud native" method ?

I know the command : "test platform software config mode managed" will start the migration to Meraki managed mode (after you have started the new native tunnel, and the switch has got the Meraki serial and so on), or adding your switch from inventory to a network should start the same process.

I also, kinda, noticed that there is a "sister" command : "test platform software config mode monitored" <- Or something close to it (its from memory 🙂 ).

Is this the command we should use for monitored mode in the future ?

Can we still then add the switch to the inventory, and add it do a network without the process for migration to managed mode starting ?

Perhaps Im just to impatient, but I kinda, really dont like the method currently being used with TLS interfaces and so on, when this new, seemingly, much more modern solution is now there 🙂

I don't have an answer, but can say there has been zero talk of monitored mode even in stuff I can't talk about yet. The focus is on getting managed mode working.

That is quite strange (a disappointment even ?) because the 9800 WLC uses the native Nextunnel for monitoring ever since 17.12.3.

But I can wait, and use the old "app" for putting switches into monitoring mode.

I do have some customers that dont like that way , at all, and they are just waiting for the rest of the Catalyst switches to work like the C9800.
