I have a quick question regarding the WAN breakout (single WAN, single switch, single MX) setup. In this scenario, the ISP uplink is connected to Switch Port 1, and the MX is already connected to the switch through the SFP uplink port. So, what’s the purpose of connecting Switch Port 2 directly to the MX again?

We raised an RMA request for the MS220-8 hardware on 18th September, but received no response. As the device approached its End of Support on 21st September 2025, we still heard nothing. Then, on 22nd September, we finally got a message stating: "Please note that the MS220 series of switches is past End of Support and is no longer eligible for RMA replacements." So, the RMA response came one day after support ended – ironic timing, isn’t it?

Then try- Option B: Use “SSID Firewall Rules” on the Wi-Fi SSID Go to Wireless → Firewall & traffic shaping → SSID firewall rules Add a rule like: Policy Protocol Source Destination Port/Range Deny Any Any Local LAN Any This isolates Wi-Fi from LAN without affecting LAN-to-LAN routing.

MX appliances cannot build VPN tunnels between sites that advertise overlapping subnets. This is why the Meraki Dashboard shows the error: “The VLAN subnet 143.161.64.0/24 conflicts with a remote VPN subnet.

Use “Layer 3 Firewall Rules” on the MX Go to Security & SD-WAN → Firewall & traffic shaping → Layer 3 firewall rules Add a rule to block traffic between Wi-Fi VLAN and LAN VLAN: Policy Protocol Source Destination Port/Range Deny Any VLAN 20(Wifi VLAN) VLAN 10(LAN) Any Make sure this rule is above any allow rules, because Meraki applies rules top-down. This will prevent Wi-Fi clients from reaching LAN devices (including RDP, file shares, etc.)

Thank you for the reply. Instead of renewing licenses, we would prefer to move ahead with bulk replacement of the MR42 units. Could you please share the process for device replacement in bulk?

The first step depends on the nature of the incident, but generally it is to check the Dashboard for visibility and quickly identify the scope and impact.

Hello Community, In our organization, we currently have around 27 MR42 Access Points. The licenses for these devices are going to expire in the next 2–3 months. While we are planning for renewal, we noticed that: End-of-Sale Date: July 14, 2022 End-of-Support Date: July 21, 2026 We are a bit confused about the best practice here: Should we proceed with license renewal for the MR42 units since support is still available until 2026? Or would it be better to plan a gradual hardware replacement? If replacement is recommended, what is the correct process to follow for multiple units? Should we raise a support case with Meraki to get migration/replacement guidance? Would appreciate advice from the community and best practices followed by others in similar situations. Cloning can work, you just need to create a new VLAN or a modify the existing one. In the Meraki Dashboard, follow these steps on cloned network. : Go to Security & SD-WAN > Addressing & VLANs Edit the VLAN . Thanks for sharing the links! I’m actively looking too, but as I mentioned earlier — Meraki-related job openings are quite limited, especially compared to roles in Fortinet, Palo Alto. Even on platforms like LinkedIn and Naukri.com, the number of Meraki-specific roles is much lower.

Just checked the Cisco Meraki careers page — currently, all active openings are outside India, such as: Escalations Engineer – Security (MX) – Kraków, Poland Escalations Engineer – Switching (MS) – Remote, Poland Network Support Engineer – Mexico City, Mexico Technical Documentation Leader – AMER Region 🇮🇳 No active Meraki roles based in India at the moment, unfortunately.

Yes, you’re right — Meraki may have some limitations compared to more players like Palo Alto and Fortinet. I don’t have deep hands-on experience with those platforms, so I can’t compare directly. But from what I’ve worked on, I find Meraki to be one of the easiest and most efficient solutions when it comes to deployment and management. Its cloud-based interface really simplifies day-to-day operations. I do hope Meraki continues to grow and expand its feature set — and that its adoption increases in India as well. That would definitely open up more job opportunities in the network/security space here. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hi everyone, I’m currently working in the network/security domain with hands-on experience in Cisco Meraki admin. Personally, I find Meraki incredibly effective for its cloud-based simplicity and centralized management. However, I’ve noticed that Meraki doesn’t yet have strong market penetration in India. Solutions like FortiGate and Palo Alto Networks seem to lead the demand here. While actively looking for a job change, I’ve found very few openings specifically for Meraki firewall or SD-WAN administrators on platforms like LinkedIn and Naukri.com. I truly hope Meraki’s adoption grows in the Indian market, especially within the security landscape. If anyone has insights, suggestions, or knows of relevant opportunities, I’d be happy to connect.
