I'll keep you all updated, but it is a low priority now, and I'm supporting low-tech people remotely, so I may not get to the bottom of this anytime soon.  Thanks for the replies! ... View more

It wasn't clicking for me what the Local page was.  I rarely get to touch see or touch the hardware.  So I'll need to remote into a laptop into the site to reach the Local page.  Thanks.  ... View more

Configuring physical link settings MX65

Where do I find the MX65 controls to verify link Autonegotiate/duplex/speed etc?  I found a guide but I can't find the headings they reference, so perhaps outdated?  https://www.libble.eu/cisco-meraki-mx65/online-manual-922666/?page=6   Here's what's going on: the Internet works, but the link is slower than our service level.  I have Internet 2 showing 100Mbps full duplex when I hover over the Summary tab graphic ( Security & SD-WAN > Appliance status > Summary) .  It has Cat 5e patch from Internet 2 to the ISP's ONT which the ISP says should auto-negotiate at 1Gbps (and that's the speed we pay for).  Internet 1 port is open and can be used for troubleshooting.  My next opportunity I'll have someone onsite try WAN1.     Thanks ... static routes between z1 and z3

by pcrequest in Security / SD-WAN

Hello.  I'm looking for a little help with my home lab.  I just want to have a very basic setup with two segments with static routes between them.  New to me, but likely very elementary to you, so thanks in advance.    I have a z1 with my main network and it is connected to my ISP. 192.168.1.0/24:   I have a z3's Internet port connected to one of the z1's LAN ports.  I have a different network 192.168.2.0/24 and a static route defined:     I want both segments to route to each other.  I.e. I have a PVR on one segment, but I can't play its content on the other.   Tracert from the first segment to second:   C:\zzz>tracert 192.168.2.44   Tracing route to 192.168.2.44 over a maximum of 30 hops     1    <1 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  192.168.2.44   And I can ping any possible address from 192.168.1.0 but no clients actually exist with that address:   >ping 192.168.2.33   Pinging 192.168.2.33 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.2.33: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.2.33: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.2.33: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.2.33: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64     ... Great idea, and thank you! I will definitely do this in other scenarios.  In this case, the z3 is in an orange state, and it won't allow a pcap.    https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Cross-Platform_Content/Alerts_and_Notifications/Common_Dashboard_Alerts_for_Device_Connectivity#Poor_connectivity_to_the_Meraki_cloud   I learned through photos the wrong modem is hooked up! I've basically figured out my problem, but perhaps if I didn't have access to photos, is there another way besides a pcap to figure out the mac?  I'm guessing not. ... View more

Is there a way to see the MAC address of my ISP's upstream device?  I'd like to verify the manufacturer of whatever is plugged into the Internet ports of z3/mx68 etc.   Thanks.   ... View more

Thanks for the comments!     Segmenting IoT because who knows what they are doing under the hood (many devices manufactured under adversarial governments)?  Does this mean a specific subnet just for IoT?  And that means defining a VLAN in the Meraki (subnet=VLAN)?  Please excuse my network rustiness.  These are all wifi devices, so can I have more than one subnet/VLAN on wifi?  I see how I can create up to 4 SSIDs, but I read to avoid having more than 3 as a Meraki best practice.   RDP,  I am unfamiliar with reverse proxy, VPN.  I'll have to research.   I see the power is set to Auto.  I'll mess around with that, or relocate rooms.   Seems only a problem when my devices connect to 5GHz.  I can't seem to control which band they connect to.  Can I disable 5GHz?  I cannot seem to have a unique SSID for 2.4 and another for 5.       ... home lab ideas using a z1 and a z3

This is more of a fun post. I'm just looking for ideas of instructive/useful things to do with a z1 and z3 at home. I want to learn the hardware capabilities better. I'm already using the z3 so far as my main wifi router coming off my cable modem bridge. I have a Verizon USB stick for failover Internet and that works. I've got a lot of wifi smart plugs, doorbell cameras, TV sticks etc, wired computers.   I turned on the default traffic shaping.   Can the z1 act as wifi booster?  One part of my house is kind of a wifi dead zone. I do have cat 6 running there.  The SSID I set up seems to cover both 2.4/5 GHz but I can't control which the device connects to.  2.4 would be better in the dead zone, but the tablet is connected to 5. I do have a Linksys WRT AC1200 on hand.   I'd like to run a separate subnet as part of my and just define static routes between them.  Maybe I'll put my smart devices on a separate subnet?   Open a 1 to 1 NAT for RDP to Windows 10 perhaps, or is that asking for trouble?  Maybe run a virtual machine webserver on that same Windows computer.   Like I said, I'm just looking for ideas to learn z1 / z3 hardware better.  Thanks! ... z1/z3 precise WAN Loss meaning

Z1/Z3 > Teleworker Gateway > Appliance Status > Uplink >    What does WAN loss at the bottom exactly mean?  Of course, it should mean if the ISP especially needs to complete a repair, and this has happened before, as expected.   But sometimes I'll show high loss like this:     MTR from Meraki Dashboard looks good.  I'll do a WinMTR from my workstation to the remote Z1 (3Mbps Centurylink DSL) and it looks perfect.  The site has a relatively slow DSL.  Can the Loss be from wifi at all or something other than WAN?   I wouldn't expect this, but I cannot explain the loss.  I've spoken to the DSL ISP many times and they remark all the stats look better than typical DSL connections.    So can the WAN link actually be fine, and WAN Loss shows high because of another reason I can investigate?  Thanks in advance. ...
