Someone had plugged it back in 🙄. Disconnecting it again immediately bumped my score up some in the network health monitor. It still says down, but as Mloraditch hinted at, that could be an echo from the sampling time of the monitoring. We'll see if it remains better. In the meantime, the old MG21 is now on my workbench, not connected to the network. I believe between this answer and Alemabrahao's response that one cannot remove the WAN2 configuration in the older MX models, I have my answer. Thank you all.
