Hi,   I'm looking to add some new VLANs using the API and the main aspects work fine, however some variables appear to not be working successfully.   # ------------------------VARIABLES----------------------------- # (1) Insert desired Network ID here from list above. $networkid   =   $Test_Site # (2) Insert New Management Subnet $MGNTRANGE   =   "10.1.2.0/24" # (3) Insert New DATA Subnet $DATARANGE   =   "10.2.2.0/24" # (4) Insert New VOICE Subnet $VOIPRANGE   =   "10.3.2.0/24" # -------------------------------------------------------------     #----Formatting----- $MGNTRANGESPLIT   =   $MGNTRANGE . split ( '.' ) $MGNTRANGEIP   =   "$( $MGNTRANGESPLIT [ 0 ]).$( $MGNTRANGESPLIT [ 1 ]).$( $MGNTRANGESPLIT [ 2 ]).1" $DATARANGESPLIT   =   $DATARANGE . split ( '.' ) $DATARANGEIP   =   "$( $DATARANGESPLIT [ 0 ]).$( $DATARANGESPLIT [ 1 ]).$( $DATARANGESPLIT [ 2 ])" $VOIPRANGESPLIT   =   $VOIPRANGE . split ( '.' ) $VOIPRANGEIP   =   "$( $VOIPRANGESPLIT [ 0 ]).$( $VOIPRANGESPLIT [ 1 ]).$( $VOIPRANGESPLIT [ 2 ])" #Array of rules required to be pushed to network as defined above. All fields are required. $data   =   @ {              id = "3000"              networkId = " $networkid "              name = "BLEUGH"              applianceIp = " $DATARANGEIP .1"              subnet = " $DATARANGE "              dnsNameservers = "upstream_dns"              dhcpHandling = "Run a DHCP server"              dhcpLeaseTime = "1 hour"              dhcpOptions =                    @ (                      @ {                          "code" = 43                          "type" = text                          "value" ="<DHCP OPTION INFORMATION> "                     }                 )         }              #Convert arrays above to JSON format. $json   =   $data  |  ConvertTo-Json   -Depth   4 ; Write-Host   $json     This is written in powershell as i am using the Invoke-RestMethod call to Post this data, however the additional hashtable for dhcpOptions heading doesn't show in the dashboard, but shows correctly in the JSON output that is sent (See below). Also the dhcpLeaseTime value doesn't appear to change either if i enter "1 week" or "1 hour", it just appears to default to "1 day".   { "subnet": "10.2.2.0/24", "dnsNameservers": "upstream_dns", "name": "BLEUGH", "dhcpHandling": "Run a DHCP server", "applianceIp": "10.2.2.1", "id": "3000", "dhcpLeaseTime": "1 hour", "networkId": "<NETWORK ID>", "dhcpOptions": [ { "value": "<DHCP OPTION INFORMATION>", "code": "43", "type": "text" } ] }         Any help gratefully appreciated,   Cheers Neil ... Block device from API

Hi All,   I'm creating an App that can be rolled out to our Service Desk and Security Team to allow them to manage users devices etc. on our networks from the API.   One of the bits i'm looking to do is block a device from the network if we see any malicious activity etc. being conducted on that device. However, i'm unable to find what the policy ID maybe for the in built Meraki Blocked policy.   I've checked a device that is blocked on a network from the API and it says normal, even though on the dashboard it is actually blocked with a custom message being presented to it. :S   Any one had this issue before and can maybe shed some light on this?   Thank you!   Cheers N ... Hi @ccnewmeraki    Yeah, seems like a good idea.    Its more from a context type thing, in terms of viewing amount of traffic flowing for all protocols, how Meraki group things all in one area.    If for example we are seeing heavy traffic flows or have had reports of them at a certain point in time, we can go back and see what that client was doing briefly. i.e. was SCCM pushing a large amount of data, or was the AV app doing an update etc.   Don't really want to have to goto another app to get the data that should already be retained by Meraki. 🙂   ... Custom Client Analytics in Dashboard

Hi,   I'm going to raise this as a feature request as well, but thought i'd post on here as well for additional visibility.   Currently, there is only the option to view client stats for the last 2 hours, last day (24 hours), last week or last month.   It would be very handy if we could break this down with a custom filter to see what happened in a 2 hour period at any point during the full period available (last 30 days).    We occasionally have some issues where we need to find out what a client has visited in the past and this feature would be very helpful.   Cheers Neil ... Hi All, Thanks for the posts. It does seem to be all fine with the mix between /24 and /28's. I guess as you are unable to make a full /24 from a subnet that has a /28 already assigned, the dashboard will just issue the /28's from the remaining subnets that can't be used to make the /24s. ... VLANs

Hi,   We currently have a number of different deployment templates for the MX's we have in our estate, and we have each template to assign a number of unique /24 subnets from a /16 subnet for each VLAN.   We are looking at deploying some Z3 devices which obviously a /24 subnet for 3 VLANs for example is way over the top.   What i'm wondering is, if we are wanting to deploy an additional template for the Z3 devices only with /28 subnets for each vlan from the same /16 range as the other templates above, will this cause issues for any subsequent /24 range that will be issued for the non z3 templates?   e.g.   Non Z3 Template VLAN100 - 10.0.0.0/24 VLAN200 - 10.0.1.0/24 VLAN300 - 10.0.2.0/24     Z3 Template VLAN100 - 10.0.3.0/28 VLAN200 - 10.0.3.16/28 VLAN300 - 10.0.3.32/28   Is the Subnet issuing smart enough to realize that the 10.0.3.0/24 subnet is partially assigned?   Hope that makes sense and sorry if this sounds stupid.   Cheers Neil ... Ah, Thanks for testing. That is interesting. That will cause some issues for us. We don't use the same template for both stack types as we have some non meraki switches that we have at some sites that require more ports than on the back of the MX65's, however we have some smaller sites that, the amount of ports available on the 65's are sufficient, so need to enable all the ports as access ports. ... Hi, They are using the same /14 range for both template types. the only difference between the templates is due to us using MX65's where some sites have switches and some just use the local ports depending on the size of the site and how many ports are required. Cheers ... View more

Moving networks between templates query

Hi,   We have a number of templates setup in our dashboard to manage different site types for the MX's we have.   As part of the templates, we issue out subnets for each VLAN.   I just have a question about, if we change a network to be bound by a different template, will it just continue with the current Subnets it has been assigned initially, or will they be issued new ranges?   Sorry if this is a silly question, just wanted to be sure before i move a network over though.   Cheers Neil ... The local status page initially says its connected, then after about 5 mins is reporting unable to connect. :S   I did notice that it was trying upgrade and was at 37%, but none of the lights indicated that it was upgrading.      Yeah i tried turning spanning tree off as i was thinking the same that it was shutting the port down, but no joy. 😞   ... Morning all,   I'm having some issues with connecting a MS 8Port switch to my BT Home Hub 5.   Initially it connects successfully and reports all fine on the dashboard, however after approx 5 mins, the orange light appears on the front and it drops into offline. It doesn't show on the home hub as a connected device either. :S   I can't see any reason for it as i have had it working before.   Has anybody else seen this before?   Cheers Neil ... View more
