I am running into this also, but if I tell it to do it now, it still gives the error.  It could very well be a template thing, but our MX64's don't get the message, but the Z3's do. ... View more

MX250 Firmware Update and Possible Network Loss

This is mostly a sanity check.  We have dual MX250's for redundancy.  If I do the firmware update, it will do one after switching the network over to the other MX250, and then when it is done, switch back and do the other one, so we won't be down till it is done?  The manual says it does, but sometimes the manual is wrong, and this is something I can't have it be wrong on. ... Is there any way to setup a couple second delay for this?  Due to ISP's (Comcast) mostly, we get a bunch of false up/down alerts.   Would be nice where it waits say 5 to 10 seconds before alerting the connection is down on our users VPN boxes.   There is no option under the MX\Network-Wide alerts area.   ... A bit ago when I opened the dashboard, and it logged me in, it hung just showing the Meraki logo, and Health.  Nothing else was shown, though if I clicked on one of the news articles, it would show the full page.  After a bit though the issue went away.  I would select a users VPN and it works fine, though that might not be the same thing as what you are selecting.  Outside of the one page, everything else came up at their normal speed. ... @KarstenI Not as easily as it used to be, but yes I am aware of that.  This is more so for people that go ooh I have a hub now, let me just plug in to this with my personal laptop and get on the internet.   Wonder why this isn't something you can just do in the firewall rules where you can just say I want to allow these MAC addresses and nothing more, and not have to go through the process that @Bruce  posted. ... Is it possible to setup something on the MX (we have MX64s and Z3) where anything except for the computer with a specific MAC address won't be able to do anything when plugged in to the VPN box?  I would suspect this would be a basic security feature.  That or is it something that has to be done on our MX100's?    I found a fair number of articles, but most were about IP blocking, not MAC address.  If it can be done, is there documentation somewhere that shows the steps in the Meraki dashboard on how to do this? ... @Bruce thanks, would be nice if I could get in to the local status page remotely, instead of setting up a system with a static IP, and then logging in directly.    As far as I can tell looking through the Dashboard it is talking to at least part of it, since I am getting data traffic info, and if it is connected or not.   @Inderdeep we did wonder about their ISP.  Going to try with someone else's ISP, and see if there is still an issue. ... I have someone that everything looks fine for the Z3 in Meraki's interface, and things plugged in to it work fine, but the link light is orange.  Has anyone heard of something like this?  Have rebooted it and the ISP's provide modem (powered both off, gave it a minute, plugged in the modem, waited for it to boot up, and then plugged in the VPN).     I can remote desktop in to it, access it through the domain controller, and through file share, so I know it is talking to the network.   It is on MX15.42.1   Just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, as far as a possible failure in the near future.   ... Hi, sure this has been asked a couple times, but not finding anything for my specific question.  If I change the password for a switches local status page, it only effects that switch, not any of the other switches that are tied to it?  Would be changing all the switches most likely, but just in case there is some that it is decided to not be changed.     There is nothing else that would be effected on the switch by this change, just access to the local status page? ... I would be curious if there was a fix also.  Our MS350-48 seems to only do it on 3 ports.  The odd thing is, that one of them has nothing plugged in to it.  One just enable/disables for a couple seconds at bursts through through out the day/night.  The other is enabling/disabling, but it is also at times coming up at 1GFDX or 10FDX.  I changed its network cable and see what happens.  I am leaning toward a network jack power management, but we have about 20 of the same systems with the same setups, and only two of them have issues. ... Thanks, I am guessing you mean under the tags area, where it lists the different OS's?  All the options are listed there, though if I click on any of them, they say if you want to see anything under this, you need a license.   Under policy its self, I don't see anything about the kind of device it is applied to, but it could be a lack of permission possibly. ... Security Policy Issue

Would there be a reason why we have the security policy in Meraki setup to alert if the screen saver doesn't turn on in 15 minutes, and doesn't ask for a login screen.  We have a group policy setup to go to screen saver, and turn off the display at 15 minutes, and require a login to get back in, but security policy still says all the systems are failing it.   Does it require a subscription to the Systems Manager feature to work? ... Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I wasn't finding anything newer then this.  I am not having much luck with finding documentation that talks about the security policies, and what each one is looking for, or to find out what is causing most all our systems to fail them.     Does screen lock require the screen saver to be setup, or just the screen turning off, which causes the system to lock and requiring a password to get back in work the same?  It currently says it is disabled, even though I have a 15 minute timer setup in group policy.  I did find some instructions on how to manually configure the screen saver, so guessing that is what has to happen.   Under system manager/configure/tabs,  it shows screen lock is at 15 minutes, which is what I have the policy set to for turning off the display.  It requires login after that happens, so that is enabled.  We have antivirus/firewall also installed.     Is the only way to see what is causing the non-compliance having a subscription to Systems Manager? ... The first network I dealt with was a Token Ring running Windows 3.11 with Workgroups.  It used the NetBEUI protocol.  I spent many an hour running RG-58 Coax in the ceiling, and chasing down 50 ohm terminators to keep the packets from leaking out the end of the line.   Their first internet was Internet In A Box.  Which in those days was pretty advanced since the public internet was still in it's infancy.   I was so glad when it was switched to Cat 5. ... Getting it here also, had a recorded outage from 10:52 to 11:01 PDT at both our local and colo, and then been getting some emails since for either both locations or just the colo loosing/gaining connection to the Meraki Cloud.  As others have said, nothing seems to have really died because there was no screaming.  Have been getting occasional emails since mostly for the colo.  Am on hold with Meraki, who I am pretty sure we have overwhelmed them.  ...
