On the other hand, for us it was a problem. our mx450's were showing 100% utilization and we were killing it. It even caused it to reboot until we offloaded dns traffic. I wouldn't say they're 100% accurate but I wouldn't say they should be ignored either. Kinda like the lights on your vehicles dash. Many factors go into your utilization and cpu score is driven by packet processing (ids/ips) and anything the mx is routing. Most important is not to exceed your maximum number of flows.. (thus why we had to offload dns)

just out of curiosity you might want to call in and check the number of flows going to the device we were having a similar issue and turned out we were flooding the 450 with DNS traffic. We offloaded the traffic and our numbers are looking MUCH better

Sometimes the device isn't being assigned to the right vlan. We wil change vlan and change it back to the right one or sometimes even have to disable the port for about a minute and re-enable it to get the proper vlan configuration on the device.

Same issue here. We patched to 18.211.3 and with the high utilization still happening support suggested turning off Multicore access at one location to test. We did that and yesterday we lost auto-vpn between two of our locations. Had to factory reset one site to get it back up. Called back in and had multicore access re-enabled and it brought our network back up. Still seeing high utilization but it doesn't appear we're dropping packets.

You can set mac allowed list. I believe if you leave it blank that will prevent anything from being "authorized" on that port until you specify the mac address

any resolution? We seem to be having a similar issue with a meraki stack and a Cisco 9300 as the uplink. Top switch is a Meraki Core switch.. during it and every other switches "down time" we had it going to a Catalyst 9300. the Stacked switches were saying DNS misconfiguration.

the dashboard has NEVER shown devices or OS's accurately. We have a postage meter that shows up as an Xbox. I wouldn't put much stock in it. I think my personal favorite is the "iPhone" running windows 10

The version has to be pushed to your device, and the only way that happens is if you get into the closed beta.

yes advanced configuration, will require access to the dashboard. You can do some configuration from the mobile app as well if you don't have regular internet.

kinda defeats the purpose of 1gb internet when the wan throughput is regulated at 250mb/s know i know Meraki will come back and say that's how fast the statefull firewall can process, however we all know that port is a gig ethernet port... how can I get full capabilities out of it... ??

I would just make a vlan for those ports. assuming of course you're running an MX device on the network you can just make the vlan not respond to DHCP request.
