Blank Splash page MX67W & MX68W after upgrade

by CWMARS in Security / SD-WAN

Our sites with wireless settings enabled on MX67W & MX68W are having an issue with the on board wireless splash page coming up as a blank page since the upgrade to 17.6. We see the devices are issued an IP address but they are unable to get any further then the blank splash page. The splash page in the preview under the settings looks fine.  The only solution was to roll back to 15.44 (16.16 had the issue as well).  Anyone else experiencing this splash page issue, it's only with our sites using the MX onboard wireless, sites with MRs are not experiencing this behavior.   Thanks, Anne ... MX 17.6 broke splash page

Has anyone else encounter the issue of a blank splash page after the firmware upgrade to 17.6 on MX devices using the onboard wireless settings?  We have multiple locations reporting this and the only resolution is to downgrade to 15.44.  The firmware 16.16 only works if we allow non-http traffic prior to login and enable walled garden.  We do not want to do that so we are downgrading all MXs with onboard wifi to 15.44.   Just wondered if we were the only ones seeing this behavior as Meraki is stating no known issue being reported. Hi, We are a library network and I advise our libraries to run a summary report on the public hotspot SSID monthly and have it emailed.  They then just plug it into a spreadsheet for their annual ARIS report.  We use a splash page to protect the library from liability for copyrighted materials being downloaded on the public wireless device.  In the summary report the accurate number would be the devices granted access by actually accepting the splash page.  The number of devices otherwise could be just devices connecting but not actually accepting the page and using the internet. Hope this helps! Anne CW MARS bark.cwmars.org ... View more

Thanks for the info!  Unfortunately we can't do any cable troubleshooting because this site is closed due to the COVID-19 issue.  I have tried upgrading the firmware to v.15.27 and opened a ticket with Meraki support but they said I have to check cables before any further troubleshooting can take place. Thanks, I did try that before upgrading the firmware. It's funny that after the firmware upgrade one of the APs went to full power.  All is left is to swap cables at this point.   Thanks, Anne ... View more

MR42 running in low power

Hi, I have two MR42 access points connected to the PoE ports of a Meraki MX68.  They both were showing low power so I first thought I would upgrade the firmware of the MX68, this changed one of the APs to full power but the other one is still showing low power.  I know I should check cables (though we installed new ones) since the MX has no way to test cables like the switches but due to the COVID-19 issue we cannot access the bldg or hardware.  Any other thoughts as to what I can maybe do remotely to correct this power issue? Thanks, Anne ... View more

Dear Meraki, I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is that I can see what port a device is connected to and have a port description in a Meraki MS switch but cannot add a description or see in connected clients any port information on devices connected to MX ports!!  This is frustrating at remote sites when a cable is moved and you have VLANs configured and no way to tell what port it's connected to???   Even just a mac address table identifying the port would be helpful in the MX's!! Ok. That's my Christmas wish ☃️ ☃️ ... View more

OS information not matching

Hi Everyone,   We try and monitor the OS of the devices on our networks since we no longer support MS Windows 7 and are trying to get our users to upgrade.  In checking the OS info we have found that the info listing on the network-wide clients in the MS120 switches usually states "other" whereas the MX security device states that it is "Windows 10".  Why would these two devices communicating with each other interpret the same device differently?  What's the point of the OS info in the MS120 if it just says "other"?   Thanks, Anne ... Summary report on MX by SSID

Hi Everyone!   I'm trying to produce summary reports on different networks with MX devices within the same organization.  I want to select just our guest SSID for the report.  I have this ability when I run summary reports on organizations with external MR devices but when I select a location using a MX device with an internal wireless hotspot (like MX67W & MX68W) I cannot select a certain SSID it only has ALL SSIDS selected?   Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Anne ... View more

A bit about yourself & your work I am part of the largest library network in Massachusetts - CW MARS, I help support a network of 150+ library locations. Your experience with Cisco Meraki We have been slowly migrating our library sites to all Cisco Meraki MX, MR and MS products. A fun fact about yourself I've been working in IT for about 25+ years and am originally from California but traded in the sunshine for nice cold winters in Massachusetts!!   ... View more
