Fortigate is a Firewall, Meraki MX is a SDWAN with some firewall functionality.   Fortigates have a really bad time being central managed and require FortiManager to perform this functionality which is a pain in the ass to setup with Forigates, Meraki MXs it's all done via Merkai Dashboard and setup from the get go with no addtional license or software required.   Fortigate wins in the DC for firewalling.
