Hello again. We are indeed having issues, one way audio, crackling, delay, audio speeding up and slowing down, audio cutting out - all of it is intermittent, people can go a while without any issues at all. Fuze support have said the application definitely tags the traffic it sends as per the table, so upstream packets arriving at the MR should be tagged. I need to add rules to make sure that traffic is prioritised. Since Fuze is unknown to Meraki I will have to do it based on source port but I dont know how to make the custom expression. On the MX units I will put the same rules on based on destination port to tag the downstream. One other thing that worries me is that Fuze are adamant that their table is correct (proven) but their CS values dont seem to match merakis - for example Fuze say signalling is CS5 and meraki say CS5 is broadcast video. When I make the rules do you think I should stick to Fuzes's version? presumably if that's how they are tagging stuff then it doesnt matter if its wrong so long as my rules match?

thanks for the reply. We have MX units at the gateway. Do these automatically tag all application traffic? (we seem to just have the default rules enabled). How can I tell if NBAR is recognizing/tagging it correctly? Do I have to capture and inspect the packets with wireshark or is there an easier way in the dashboard? If I have to add custom definitions based on ports - how do I specify a source or destination one? destport /srcport ? Presumably Id specify destination on downstream at the MX and source on upstream at the AP? Thanks!

Hello, I am trying to add DSCP tagging on our MR36's for our VOIP and video conferencing software called "Fuze" (aka 8x8). I have this from their documentation - Would adding a rule of "all voip and video conferencing" (there isn't a specific definition for Fuze) with "46 EF" do the job do you think? Thanks!

I set the channels but in the settings they are showing the 20mhz channel I set 60 and 100 expecting 62 and 102 😞 and even more weirdly - when I run a wifi scanner I can see the BSSID of these AP's are actually 80Mhz wide!

Hello, My access points are using a profile with channel width set to 40mhz (no template is applied) and auto channel. I am trying to manually override the channel to a specific one, but it will only let me select 20mhz channel 😞 For example I cant select channel 102. Anyone know whats going on?

Iv actually found something called replit that might work for python collaboration, however I am having an issue installing the meraki module via pip but thats a separate issue. Thanks!

thanks! I was just about to reply with some sudo code of what I need to figure out how to code, more or less the same as yours I think, although I was using a variable counter for port number. I dont think I can do this in postman? Thanks! - Annoyingly it looks like Im going to have to use Python or something if I want to do anything more than basic API calls? I wanted to stay with postman because it has a really easy interface for collaborating with other team members - sharing scripts in a central repository etc but I guess Im going to have to figure out how to do that with some other Python client : /

I'd love to but I just cant risk it on live networks. The future seems to be API so it's a good opportunity to learn it, I can create a bunch of scripts for any common changes we might make or for setting up new devices etc and hand them out to the team which should also help reduce human error in configs etc. Thanks for the help!

Hello, I have been plunged head first into API stuff having not done programming before : / I have a decent idea of how it all works but I need to rapidly learn programming 😛 For example, right now I am trying to write a call that will Aggregate 10 pairs of switch ports between two switches (for example aggregate port 48 on switch 1 with port 48 on switch 2). I found the basic script in the library which looks great, but I assume there is a way to write it to do a range (eg 38 - 48) rather than having to write the same thing out 10 times. Trouble is I'm not sure what language I need to learn for Postman. I know Python is the most common language for writing scripts but is that what postman uses? ooof, sounds like it's better to just forget about using templates altogether. If I have a large number of changes to do I'll just do them by API or something.

hmmm, so rather than clone an existing network for the template with all its mx unit settings etc, maybe it would be best to create a brand new blank template and just edit the settings I want to be applied to every network? If I don't touch the other settings, then when I apply the template, it wont effect them? If I don't edit the settings, they will remain as default. - Basically, would a blank template change all a sites settings to default, or would it not change anything? Only things that have been specifically edited in the template get applied?

Hello, I am currently making a combined template that we will hopefully be able to use for multiple sites. I have read the guides but I'm still unclear on a few details... I started making the template based on an existing network. Obviously this template will be fine on the network it was made from but when applying it to other sites, is there a way to specify which settings it will or wont effect? For example, the site to site VPNs will need slightly different settings on each site etc. Those sites already have everything setup and configured and I don't want the template to go changing and breaking things. Also, switch port configs - will the template apply the same settings to each site or does it leave stuff like this alone? Thanks!

weird - all I know is that combining the networks was not an option until I added a new wireless device to the combined network and the wireless menu option appeared. Moving AP's to the combined network was not possible either until after I had added a new AP from inventory.

thinking about cloning as a backup solution - if something went wrong with the main network and I needed to roll back quickly - would it just be a case of moving the devices to the cloned network? Is there anything I can do to backup the device configs?

oooh that's very interesting, for backup reasons but also I am working on a combined template for all our sites and I REALLY would like to test it first, so could I clone a existing network and use it as a test platform? - I want to see exactly what settings will get changed when the template is applied.

I am unable to combine the wireless network with the combined network (the combined network does not appear as an option). I think this is because the combined network doesn't have the wireless part - This was the reasoning behind splitting the combined network first. However I got around this by adding a new AP to the combined network from inventory which created the wireless bit and after that combining networks was an option - but to be honest I think I will just move the access points to the combined network and then bin the old wireless network.

Sorry for the second thread on the same topic but I have been looking at the subject more and have a much clearer idea of things but have one or two questions on specifics.... I have 1 combined network with two MX250s' (hot and spare) and 2 MS355-48X2 switches I also have 1 wireless network with about 70 MR74's I want to combine the two networks. I will split the combined network which will create two new networks - MX and MS I then select all 3 networks and select combine. First of all - is that all there is to it or am I missing steps? Secondly - from everything I have read, I am not 100% sure whether or not I will loose any configuration. The AP's would not be the end of the world but the MX or MR's would be devastating. Is there any way I can create some kind of back up of the combined network as it is now so I could quickly and easily roll back should there be a problem? OR a backup of the device configs etc? Thanks!

this implies that would be a bad idea https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Organizations_and_Networks/Best_Practices_for_Merging_Networks_and_Organizations its reading this that made me think it was prob best to just move the access points into the existing MX network - that way I wouldn't be disturbing them at all - only the AP's which would be less of a catastrophe in the event of an issue.

The steps in that guide describe creating new combined templates and networks. Are you saying I can just make a new network, and then move live and active MX units and switches to the new network without any problems or loss of config?

Hello, Due to the meraki infrastructure being bought/setup in dribs and drabs, we have a situation where we have two separate networks for every site. One network is just MR access points. ALL the wifi networks are bound to a single template (wireless type). The other network contains MX security devices and switches. These sites do not currently use templates. Id like to combine the networks but wasnt quite sure on the best order to do this. First of all, if I want to keep using templates, I assume I will have to make a new combined one which I can do by making a new template from the MX sites and then combining it with the wireless template? If I then move all the AP devices to the MX network, I gather some settings will be lost. But I could then apply the new template to quickly put those settings back right? Or - what if I apply the new template to the MX network first, and then move the AP points - would the AP's pick up the full template settings right away and not need any further attention? Does it matter if the old wireless template is still bound to the old AP network when I move the AP devices? Should I unbind the network before the move? Thanks!
