An MX68 is setup to host DHCP for the network. I have some clients that are picking up a DNS server of 192.168.15.1 even though that IP is not an upstream DNS and it is not listed in our custom name servers. How can I track where it is getting this assignment from? The rest of the IP address pool is accurate, it's getting the 192.168.1.x I expect it to get.

We're upgrading our MX68W with the MX85. The 68W is a hub for our site-to-site VPN's. I can't find any clear guidance on how I can replace this with a minimum amount of fuss. I have a three hour maintenance window and was hoping I could add this to the network so I could pre-populate some network configuration but it appears that I can't. Wondering if anyone has some wisdom on how you might have accomplished similar task?

Please move this post if there is a better category to put in. We've recently started piloting Insight. One of the options is VoIP calling. Our provider is RingCentral. I've opened a ticket with them to see if I can get the server information if it's allowed to be monitored but the support rep seemed to not know anything about it. Has anyone here who is a RingCentral customer tried to add it to Insight and if you did where did you find the information you needed to add it?

This is a very old thread but I can confirm that today, 9.21.2023, this happened to two of our networks when we added into inventory a 2nd MX appliance, we didn't even set it up as a warm spare yet and the network traffic reset.

This post is a little bit stale, if anyone is still subscribed to it, does Mandatory DHCP have any adverse impact on roaming?

Once upon a time we had a local RADIUS server but we moved to 365 and Azure AD. I'm wondering how could I set up the Meraki to authenticate the users from Azure? We use the AnyConnect VPN and love the way we can get those to authenticate against Azure AD but can't find something similar for the RADIUS.

We've been 99% Dell shop running Latitudes with Intel WiFi. One side of the house is imaged using MDT and I do update the driver packs on regular intervals. The other half the house is Microsoft Intune, and I'm not sure how it does its driver management other than when it does the initial user set-up at login the first time.

They didn't. This wasn't brand new deployment but a replacement of Cisco SAP1602's. I did state in the OP that across the organization we have a mix of AP models but in its the same model in each building; in case the one building with the issue, it is all MR36's.

Correct it can't, not usually, but other than different models of AP, what else could be incorrect? I've had two vendors look at my configuration and design and the Cisco vendor who sold me this stuff in the first place didn't mention that the AP model should be identical throughout your building... (that kind of irks me they didn't)

That is unfortunate it also cannot be done at the organization level (or can it?)

Where in the dashboard can you configure notifications when devices go offline and is it possible to setup text/sms notifications in addition to or in lieu of email?

We have a high density environment where professionals are moving between their areas and other areas to meet with clients and it seems the computers do not tolerate moving between the access points very well (some of our LOB apps drop connection). I'm wondering what are some of your best practices or settings that are optimal? We have a combination of MR36, MR44, and MR56 access points. Client balancing is turned off. Thanks and looking forward to your input and insight.

I've set uplink configurations to maximum for each appliance because the ISP does offer speed burst on them. Should I adjust those and if I should, should I adjust them to be 100 megs more than the contracted speed? As for throttling useless traffic, I have these default traffic shaping rules set at the firewall, but I think that isn't the only place where I'm supposed to configure things...

They aren't saturated all the time; a few hours a day tops. At our largest location the bandwidth is 400x400. At our smallest location it is 100x100.

I've been in IT for 22 years but I'm still illiterate it seems when it comes to optimal planning and configuration. My sites usually are composed of an MX64 or MX68 depending on size; connected to MS120-48FP's or MS210-48LP's and on top of that we have some flavor of MR access points. If you were going to configure this to ensure that you maximize the bandwidth you get at each site; what settings should I look at adjusting for each piece? The catalyst (no pun intended) behind this is we want to order more bandwidth at some of our sites; sometimes during the day things get really slow, but we have a lot of people doing teams conferences, etc.

Has anyone noticed if it is impacting their voice communications? At the same time our MX status pages failed to load we started getting tickets about voice communications becoming choppy and cutting out across all of our networks regardless of ISP and geography.
