As for your gateway question, VLAN 2’s gateway will still be the Meraki switch (let’s say 192.168.2.1). The switch will then decide where to send the traffic—straight to Firewall 2 based on the static route. How would you do this if a default route is already present on the L3 switch? How would you add another static route pointing to a different gateway for destination 0.0.0.0/0?

Sorry for some missing information but of course vlan 1 and vlan 2 have unique network ip addresses ranges. I just need to know if it's possible to configure the Meraki L3 to have 1 subnet route through 1 firewall and the other subnet through the other firewall. The firewalls are on a seperate vlan (not vlan 1 or vlan 2). Not sure if I understood your reply correctly but how would you set the gateway for vlan 2 to the MX 100 if they're both on different vlans?

We have 2 firewalls, 1 Meraki MX 100 and the other a different vendor. The non Meraki firewall is used for internet traffic and non Meraki site to site VPN's. The Meraki is primarily used for Client VPN. We have a Meraki MS390 L3 switch. We use a default route on the L3 to send traffic to the non Meraki firewall. Let's say we have 2 user networks, vlan 1 and vlan 2 on the LAN. Vlan 1 uses the default route through the non Meraki firewall. How can we configure the L3 switch to have vlan 2 route through the MEraki firewall? On a Cisco switch you would have the option to create an ACL and a route map to do this? What is the equivalent configuration on a Meraki switch?

This is not good especially for the more complex configuration of the MX appliance. Is there really no way we can save the config, move the device to a new network and restore the config? I can imagine many other companies at some point would need to do the same.

We want to manage each location as a seperate network or site in the dashboard. We assign subnets to sites. Having devices from multiple locations and ip ranges listed in a single site can make things more complicated.

Sorry we do not have any non Meraki devices in the dashboard. We have an MX appliance, switches and Access points listed in the network that we would like to split in 2. I'm not talking about Organization > Configure > Inventory. I meant the network dropdown when you select a site to manage the devices.

One of our sites was closed and the users and computers were moved to 2 different physical locations. The Meraki network in the dashboard was never adjusted to reflect the changes. So we had devices sitting in that network that are actually residing in 2 different locations. Now we are considering adding a 2nd L3 switch. THe network also contains an MX appliance. - Are there any issues we can possibly run into? Anything be aware of? - What is the recommended way of breaking a Meraki network up in 2?

My mistake, you are correct the MS120 is L2 only but has the interface added for DHCP relay. The other 2 MS250s do have the vlan interface added for routing. And yes, all ports are in vlan 1. And I do see a lot of status change spanning tree port activity.

Can you elaborate what issues to look for specifically? It was already implemented by this person and it seems like it's functioning like normal. I see no errors on the switches and it's not even complaining about ip conflicts.

I've seen someone configure 1 vlan interface on multiple switches ( 2 x MS250s and 1 x MS120) with the same ip address on each of the switches in a site. The 3 switches are stand alone switches and not stacked. IS this a supported configuration?

We have sites of various sizes and settings. From small with 1 vlan to large with more than 10 vlans. Would that leave Dashboard API access as the only other viable option? And is there a sample script with can use and modify for our purpose?

I called support and was told it can also be achieved by using Configuration templates or Dashboard API access along with scripts. I would assume this would raise the level of complexity.

To forward syslog events I know you can add a syslog server under Network Wide > Configure > General > Add a syslog server. However this is for a single site only. We have over 20 sites so I would like to know if there's a way to configure syslog forwarding in a single place for all networks.

Change the switches management interface configuration so that it is pointing at the new Internet circuit. It should come back online in the dashboard after this. You should see it checking in from the new public IP address. Can we change the ip address of the switch after the ISP router's ip address has changed? How will the switch access the internet after the IP change on the ISP router? Can I change the switch it's management ip locally from the LAN? This is in case I can get access to a machine on the local LAN.

We are adding a L3 switch in a site. The ISP WAN router was routing for the site. We would like to reassign the ISP router's ip address to a new vlan interface on our L3 switch so we don't have to change the gateway of the client machines. We have no remote hands support for the site. What is the proper way of changing the ip address remotely so we don't loose connectivity?

What would be the best way to segment clients from servers across several departments (Lan and WAN) globally? What Meraki hardware would be recommended? I would assume traditional firewalls are too slow? Can Cisco ISE be used along with Meraki switches? Not sure if Cisco ISE can really help with segmenting a LAN/WAN.
