Wanted to do the updates last week from 10.6 to 10.29 while the 10.30 was arriving. So I changed my schedules to 10.30 beta. And while upgrading to 10.30 the status changed from beta to stable release candidate. This quick changes where pleasantly surprising me. But now in the end everything is working well with 10.30

Yes, while upgrading from 9.x to 10.x we had some spanning-tree loops too. It was with stacks. But after this all the upgrades were working fine. 10.x has some nice features and spanning-tree configs that I can use. And it´s more stable in the end. So, now I did update 7 of our 8 networks. The last one I will do in two weeks when the other networks are doing well.

Hi, I want to update my switches (many MS-8P and MS220 and MS225, some are stacked) from 10.6. to 10.29. I want to remove some stacking issues and I like to have the UDLD and the spanning-tree guard feature. Are there any experiences with that update? Thank you Markus

After weeks spending with support and a Cisco Case Cisco made a patch on our Cisco-ISE. It´s working better now, not perfect but better. Now we have this ISE versions: Version: 2.2.0.470 Patch Information: 1,2,7,8,9

Hello, We have an problem with our guest WiFi. The splashpage from the ISE doesn´t appear for signing in. With Windows notebooks, Android devices and Apple Notebooks it´s working well but not with Apple iPhones (from IOS 11.3 and 11.4). Its working with the iPhones on Cisco Controller based wireless LAN conncted to the same ISE. Has anybody problems with iPhones and Meraki and Cisco ISE?

Hello, I need to connect a layer 2 network between two buildings with radio. The buildings are not in far distance, only about 30m. (And I can´t put a cable between). Can I connect with mesh networking? I need to connect a trunk link with a few VLANs between two MS switches and would like to use MR accesspoints for that. In this documentation it´s explained, but I can´t see if this link is a trunk link with some VLANs in it: https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Deployment_Guides/Mesh_Deployment_Guide_(CVD) Who has experience with that kind of network interconnect? thank you

You can do redundant links with port aggregation. Then you don´t need STP.

We have MS225-48LP switches with software version 10.6 and Avaya 9641G IP-phones. It´s working well. We connect the IP-phones to the switch, and the PC´s on the phones. The config is looking like that: access VLAN and voice VLAN configured. The phones are restarting when they loose the connection to the SIP-Server. Can you check the Server Network connection?

Support put me a new menu on the dashboard, so I can update switch for switch, the name of this is "staged upgrades". I did updates with that. It´s working with switches in a stack too.

But, for the first "hello" the accespoint needs a IP-address with connection to the cloud, if there are some VLANS with DHCP how do the accesspoint know which vlan it has to take when you don´t give a native VLAN?

We have Cisco ISE 2.2.0.470, Installed Patches 1,2 and rules for internal windows devices with certificate they are allowed to go internal with the company SSID. Then we have a rule for bring your own devices as smartphones and so on, the users can connect to the companys SSID with their active directory account but will be directed by the ISE to a VLAN with public internet access (not allowed to come inside the comapnys network). And at last we have an guest SSID for external users. the SSID connects them to a VLAN with public internet access. The browser cache of the iPhones are leading to a problem that the guest splash-page doesn´t appear or appearing very shortly. It´s happening when we open a webpage again which was opened before, when opening a new webpage which wasn´t opened before the ISE guest splash page opens and the guests can put in their credentials. We are using Cisco Meraki MR accesspoints with version 25.9, Meraki switches with version 10.9 and Cisco switches.

We are using Cisco ISE as well because we also have Cisco Controller based accesspoints and switches (until they die 😉 ) We had in the begining of Meraki and ISE the same problems. Now it´s working: - we use the newest (beta) MR version. - we had to exclude DFS channels because we are near a airport radar station - we had to update our ISE to Version 2.2.0.470, Patch 2 - we had to use 802.11r - we had to set the minimum bitrate to 6MBit ...
