WiFi 6 - Do I need to have both bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz enabled for it to work properly

WiFi 6 - Do I need to have both bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz enabled for it to work properly

Do I need to have both bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz enabled for WiFi 6 to work properly.

Please note that my question is regarding WiFi 6 and not WiFi 6E.

If i have an area which I have disabled 2.4GHz due congestion and left only with 5GHz enabled then

 * Would I be able to use WiFi 6 at all?

 * Any cons (affecting wifi6...) due of 2.4GHz is disabled?

 * How can I check if a client is connected using WiFi6?

Thanks in advance for all helpers!

Wifi6 works on 2.4 as wel as on 5ghz.

Disable 2.4 is not a bad thing at all.

Dashboard does not show if clients are connected using wifi 5 or 6. It shows the client Capable Wi-Fi standards, so you could asume its using that

Unlike Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) Wi-Fi 6 also supports the old 2.4 GHz band.  You can work in either band as you see fit.

The usual use case I see for the 2.4 GHz band is for IoT devices.  And then use 5 GHz (and 6 GHz in Wi-Fi 6E) for all your bandwidth hungry devices.

Make sure to check your RF profiles in dashboard to see if the disable 802.11ax box is not checked.
