SDB from an offline AP

Hi community,
I'm having a problem with some MR44 access points. Support wants me to provide the SDB, but the APs neither respond to a ping in the management network nor do they broadcast an SSID in case of error. How do I access the SDB if the AP can no longer be accessed?

You need access to the local status page of the AP...check the following documentation.

https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Tools_and_Troubleshooting/Out-of-Band_Log_Fe...

Access to local status page:

If you do not have this...give this feedback back to support and ask them if there are other ways to fetch it

hope this helps

Kind of a big deal

You can access the local status page as mentioned.

However, what tests have you already done? Have you tried connecting the AP to another port on your switch? Are the APs assigned a fixed IP or via DHCP? If they are receiving IP via DHCP, have you checked to see if there are still available addresses?

Can you provide more details?

I know the LSP route, but I've always been connected to an AP's SSID for that. I can't do that right now because the AP is no longer broadcasting. It's just there, and the LED is blue. It's shown as offline in the dashboard and doesn't respond to pings in the management network. The switch doesn't recognize that the AP is no longer online; the port is up, PoE is running, and cdp/lldp is being read. The only way to make the AP accessible again is to reboot, but that would result in the loss of all data.

It would be a good idea to call Meraki, I think their service will be faster.

Case at Meraki is already running 😉

Repatching the AP didn't help. The AP is connected via DHCP and is correctly addressed.
Replacing the switch and the AP was unsuccessful.
If the error occurs and I do nothing, the AP reboots automatically after 8 hours (Meraki timer).

Hi @NH_DP,

One way around this if the device is currently on and responding to pings on the local LAN would be to temporarily enable the Network-wide > General > 'Remote device status pages (through device's LAN IP)'  setting which will allow you to access the management IP of the AP via http://192.168.1.1 (as an example.)
