New MR 31.1.5.1 beta firmware - fixes 6GHz radio breaking APs outside of US
Wireless firmware versions MR 31.1.5.1 changelog
Important note
- Wi-Fi 5 Wave 2 MRs support - This version and subsequent MR 31.x.x are only supported on 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) and newer MR models. 802.11ac Wave 2 and older products will not upgrade if they are in networks configured for MR 31.x.x versions, and thus, the new features will not be available. The bug fixes listed below will also not apply to Wi-Fi 5 Wave 2 and older MRs. (https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Other_Topics/Cisco_Meraki_MR_Firmware_Restrictions_Overview_and_...)
Bug fixes
- General stability and performance improvements
- Potential crash loops for 6GHz in non-US regulatory domains (Wi-Fi 6E APs)
Known issues
- Sporadic packet loss & instability on Layer 3 roaming & Teleworker VPN SSID's (Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E APs)
Solved! Go to solution.

And... it works 😎
Back to Meraki simplicity now, though the upgrade option of minimising client downtime rebooted the second AP in the house before the first was ready to serve clients... You can't have everything!

Auto upgrade to this version from 31.1.4 scheduled by Meraki for me only one hour and fifteen minutes after the release announcement!

Hmm fun thing happened.
The software was "reposted" / promoted to stable.
Then ... a short while after I got the firmwarebot mail, the first CW917x in the lab rebooted, then 10 mins later the second one..... The reason "firmware upgrade".
And the network was already on 31.1.5.1, and nothing happened to the MR APs in the lab, how strange.
Was I the only one this happened to ?

Hi. When to expect an updated MR 31.1.x or MR 32.x Version? My MR36H is unstable with the MR 31.1.5.1 release. This results in ping peaks (up to 500ms), loss of connectivity and stability issues with e.g. Webex calls or high load / bandwidth cosuming apps. With MR 30.7 or 30.7.1 no issues (a few Ping peaks with 30-50 ms, but very rare). Btw. Region EMEA.

I havent actually tested the wireless connection of my MR36H APs with this software (wired works just fine).
Ill try, to see if I can verify.

Hi thomasthomsen. Have you been able to verify the 31.1.5.1 release with your MR36H via wireless? I am still holding off on updating to this version for my MR36H due to the issues with my MR36H with the release in RC status.

Testing right now 🙂
Laptop running Intel AX211 Running driver 23.90.0.2 seems just fine.
Desktop PC running some Asus branded Realtek USB Wireless NIC also seems just fine.
And finally I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 , everything also seems fine here.
I did .... see just once, 4 to 5 packets on the desktop with a high latency.
But I have been running it now for 20 mins, and all packets seems just fine.

Many thanks for testing. Maybe I will give the "new", now stable version, a try. Also i.e. Streaming and Webex (with Video) in parallel caused issues in my environment. I have around 20 Clients connected via wireless. My Intel clients running on the same versions and adapter. Let´s see if the behaviour has changed 🤞
