New Dashboard Feature? - CW9176 Down Tilt Angle

Hey folks,

I was checking out a lab 9176 we have and noticed a new section 'Down Tilt Angle' - looks like they are now presenting the accelerometer data! AP is running 31.1.6 and is facing upward

Hi Paccers,

It's a new feature for some model APs (9166D1, CW9176, CW9176D1, and CW9178 IIRC) with built in accelerometer.

Houston we have a problem... the 76i and the 78 report the angles differently!!!!

76s show an angle of 0. (wrong  IMO)  and 78s show 180 (correct IMO) Both APs are mounted identically using AP bracket 2  suspended from the t-grid, radomes parallel to and facing the deck, the EXACT way any RF person worth their salt would mount omni APs. I have a 78 in another  lab net that is riding a tabletop with radome facing the ceiling/sky , it shows 0 as i would expect it should.

The descriptions are bad, IMO they should reference the radome pointing up or down and not say anything about the mounting.  Currently both models reads as A 0 degrees orientation indicates the access point is mounted on the ceiling.   This text should be changed to reflect the orientation of the radome with respect to the ground/floor or ceiling/sky A reading of 0 degrees indicates the access point radome is pointed towards the ceiling/sky

So, update to this.

Based on @TBHPTL 's great input in a few DMs, we have identified a bug specifically for 9178I. The translation from accelerometer X,Y,Z values to "tilt" angle happens in FW, so the fix will be integrated in an upcoming SW release
