Meraki MR Access control/Splash page - Twilio SMS to any country

Hi all - I have a UK based Meraki MR wifi setup with Twilio SMS authentication (using a +44 Twilio number). Works great except that +1 users are unable to receive SMS. Speaking with Twilio this appears to be wider issue with international number messaging.

So my question is;  Is there any setup I could deploy here that I can configure in the Meraki Access control/Splash page section what will allow me to send SMS to any country in the world ? I'm open to changing my Twilio number.

I opened a ticket with Twilio - their position is that "Meraki will need to support using (our) messaging services instead of phone numbers" - but this does not seem possible ?

thanks

There are no special settings for this. I believe that Twilio's support is giving some excuse, on Meraki's side it's a simple Account SID and Auth Token configuration, it doesn't make sense to have to configure something like that on Meraki's side.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

No.  As you have correctly noted, Twilio does not have good international delivery.  I live in New Zealand, and I don't think Twilio can do TXT delivery to any country in this quarter of the planet, maybe this half of the planet.

Typically I would only use Twilio for customers 100% US based.  Twilio seems to work fine in that one market (as long as you ignore roaming users).

I think you would be better off looking for a solution that doesn't use TXT, but either way, I think you are going to need to look for a commercial solution, such as Splash Access:
