MR76 / ANT-76 - P2P Query

Hi Community,

I thought I'd put this in to ask, essentially, we're needing advice in terms of the usability of an MR76, ANT-76 for creating a P2P between two locations, the variables are:

1. The main site is 200M away from the existing MX that is connected to a leased line.

2. The new office will have an MS-1308P and an MR36 in.

3. The MR76 & Antenna will connect to an existing MS24P port in the cabinet at the main building, then the MS-138P in the new office.

Will this realistically be the best solution in terms of providing a connection, if the speed will accommodate the 500mb line to the new office? I've done basic checks, but I want to know if anyone has had experience with this and if it'd be a viable solution, or if there's one better to fit these requirements.

Regards,

Luke

From what I understand, you want to use mesh, right?

Viable? Yes, if you have clear LoS and can accept ~200–400 Mbps.
Best solution for 500 Mbps guaranteed? No. For that, use a dedicated P2P wireless bridge or fiber.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

Hi Ale,

Essentially, yes. They are sharing a line and 200-400mb would work fine.

If that's the case, that should be all we need.

For the MR76 it lists these as compatible antennas:

https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless/Product_Information/Overviews_and_Datasheets/MR76_Datashee...

"List of compatible antennas: MA-ANT-20/21/23/25/27 "

Out of those options, the MA-ANT-27 (dual band), MA-ANT-21 (5ghz only) and MA-ANT-23 (2.4 ghz only) seem like the best options to choose from.

Meraki is not the strongest at bridge links.  I would be a bit nervous about this use case.  I would personally use a dedicated bridge solution from another vendor.
