MR42 access point, no WLC, no license

Hello, I found a MR42 AP at my workplace, I would like to use it to provide WiFi to a single tablet. I have no other Cisco/Meraki hardware but I could connect the AP to another vendor switch with Internet access. However, I would like to know the minimum requirements to enable the WiFi service, such as WLC and license.

Hi @LuisRamirez , chances are the MR42 has been previously claimed by your Organisation so you may not be able to use it.

You don’t need a WLC as these devices are cloud managed but you will require a license which you can buy from any Cisco reseller.

I have been able to claim the AP to my organization, this AP has never been used and registered before. Please recommend a license with basic security features. Thanks!

Hi @LuisRamirez  the part code is LIC-ENT-1YR. That would cover you for one year of using the device, support etc.  You can also buy a 3yr, 5yr and 7yr term.
