Is there a way to increase the beacon interval settings in the WAPs / Profiles

Looking for a way to increase the beacon intervals but cannot find any settings to do so. Wanted to make sure there is not anything I am missing.

Meraki does not provide an option to manually adjust the beacon interval on their Wi-Fi access points, the beacon interval is fixed.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

Changing the Beacon-Interval is the key to a locked can of worms. Keep it closed unless you are 200% sure what you are doing.

No the beacon interval cannot be changed from the meraki dashboard. They fixed it at 100ms and is not configurable by administrators.

But you can do few things to reduce air time,

  1. Disable low data rates
  2. Prefer 5Ghz/6Ghz
  3. Adjust Minimum Bitrate per SSID
  4. Tune TX Power and channel width

And keep this in mind,

Changing beacon intervals can;

  • Break roaming behaviour
  • Cause battery drain on mobile clients
  • Create inconsistent RF behaviour across APs

Let me know the use case for more relevant answer
