Firmware update behavior when adding a new MR to an existing network

I am looking for clarification on how firmware updates work for newly added devices.

My understanding is that when a new device is added to a newly created network, it automatically downloads the latest Stable OS version.

However, I’m curious about the behavior in an existing network. If I add a new MR device to a network that is already in operation with other MRs, which version will the new device download?

1. Will it download the latest Stable OS version?

2. Or will it download the specific version currently running on the existing MR devices in that network to match them?

I’ve searched the official documentation but haven't found a detailed explanation for this specific scenario. If there are any official documents or URLs regarding this, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share them.

The device will get the specific version which is currently set for this network. 
Unless the firmware does not meet the minimum requirements of the device. Then the device will keep the new firmware.

At least this is the information i experienced in my networks.

@r2kat explained the two most common cases. There is one more: If you add an older MR to an existing network, it gets the last supported version for this model also if it's older that the network version. 

For example: A newly added MR52 will run 30.7.1 even if the network runs 32.1.x
