Does upgrading an Meraki Campus Gateway, also mean upgrading APs?

Like in Cisco Catalyst world, does upgrading a Meraki Campus Gateway automagically upgrade its APs as well?

Is there any code dependency between the two, like a software compatibility matrix?

There is special firmware release for Campus Gateway and APs in the same network. Please refer to https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless/Design_and_Configure/Deployment_Guides/Campus_Gateway_Depl...

Can there be two MCG clusters in one network? We want to tunnel Employee SSID to a different MCG cluster & Guest SSID to another MCG cluster. Is this possible?

MCG and APs have seperate Firmwares (at least in a Meraki context). When you upgrade the MCG you do not also upgrade the APs and vice-versa. The rule of thumb is to first upgrade the MCG, and afterwards upgrade the APs.

You can only have one MCG per Network, but you can have multiple Networks each with an MCG, and thus have multiple MCG clusters per Organization

Correction; four MCG clusters per network.

So if 4 MCG clusters are possible, can we have different SSID tunnel to different MCGs?

An AP can only tunnel SSIDs to one MCG cluster.

So, you mentioned 4 MCG clusters are possible per network & one SSID can only go back to one cluster.

Then does that mean, we can do SSID1 to cluster1 & SSID2 to cluster2?

Sorry for being a pest but we are almost there sir.

No, an AP can only tunnel all its SSIDs to the same MCG cluster.

I am also seeing this regarding the upgrade:

https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless/Design_and_Configure/Deployment_Guides/Campus_Gateway_Depl...

"It will be mandatory to keep the CG and AP firmware versions identical. For example, if the CG is updated to MCG31.2.5, the APs will need to run MR31.2.5 as well."

"During the firmware upgrade, Dashboard will upgrade the CG first followed by the AP."

"During the upgrade, all the Campus Gateways in the cluster will upgrade to the new code version at the same time. Once they are done, all the APs in the network will be upgraded at the same time."
