Can i use a MR56 with a 1Gig port.

i have MS-130-24X in my system i am already using 6 MR56 access point on this switch, since i require 3 more AP's, is it viable to use them on a 1Gig port without much of limitations.

Appreciate your help on this.

Regards

If you have exhausted all six 2.5G PoE ports then you can still use the 18 1G ports up to the 370W PoE budget.  Instead of it being on a 2.5G PoE port it would be limited to the 1G port capacity.

Yes, the MR56 supports auto-negotiation across 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, and up to 5 Gbps and supports 802.3at PoE.

So in that case I don't have to invest in other switch if in future i have to get 4 more Ap's i can still use them without any hassle.

Correct - it will work with 1Gig as you are inquiring about but the MR56 is capable of handling higher performance/throughput if you were to use a switch (port) with MGig capacity.

In fact it would be very unusual for the MR56 to use more than 1Gb/s of a 2.5Gb port, if you monitor the switch port you should see that the traffic is pretty much always below 1Gb/s.

He would need 80 MHz channels on the Dual-5 to break the 1 Gig-barrier. I would be highly relaxed with 1Gig, but monitor it.
