CW9172I + IPv6 + named VLAN

Hi community,

does someone has tested or using a combination of CW9172I + IPv6 + named VLAN + MR 32.1.5 .

In my setup I can't get an IPv6 address via DHCP with my SSID configured in bridge mode with using named vlan.

If I use the VLAN ID it works well.

Will open a case later  this week.

@MK2 are you referring to https://documentation.meraki.com/Switching/MS_-_Switches/Design_and_Configure/Configuration_Guides/P... on MS switches?

At least on the wireless side I'm fairly certain that we don't have IPv6 support for named VLANs.

No I believe he is referring to the vlan profiles that also can be used for named VLANs inside the access control page of an SSID.

I also fail to see what IPv6 has to do with it though.
However there is an IPv6 bridging setting in network-wide -> general.

There also is a bug when you use named VLANs that L2 QoS tagging is greyed out in dashboard because it thinks you are not tagging your frames.

Yes, exactly, specifically in the SSID configuration of the APs. Just so I can understand it and explain it to the customer, what does the “Named VLANs” feature have to do with IPV6—isn't this Layer 2?

Unfortunately, I can't find anything about it in the documentation either.

We have more and more customers who want to integrate IPv6 into their networks and are, of course, already happy users of NAMED VLANs 🙂

Actually, you are right. There should be not dependency between Named VLANs/VLAN profiles and IPv6.

However, I'm a bit confused about this part "In my setup I can't get an IPv6 address via DHCP". Did you mean SLAAC and not DHCP(v6)? There are not many clients that support DHCPv6 and SLAAC is a preferred method of IPv6 assignment. There was a known issue with W-Fi 7 APs but it was resolved in MR 32.1.4:

It would be helpful to take a packet capture on both wired and wireless interfaces to ensure that the AP passes traffic back and forth between an DHCPv6 (if this is indeed in use) and a client.
