AP not connecting to internet

Hi,

Firstly I'm a non-techie, so forgive my non-tech language!

I have an AP for use in a Childrens home. The AP has gone down and won't connect to the internet.

The main router (a Virgin Hub) is connected. But the AP is flashing an orange light followed by a rainbow light sequence, then back to flashing orange.

Any ideas? Can AP hardware periodically die? Could it be an issue with the cable? Any help would be most appreciated whilst I wait for Cisco to get back to me.

Thanks

@Rhea it sounds like the ports that Meraki uses are being blocked or AP isn;t getting a network address. Below is a list of ports that Meraki hardware and software requires to function. Below that is a link that explains what the different coloured lights mean its a Meraki Go article but it's still relevant.

Thank you for replying! The AP has worked seamlessly for 6 months with no problems. I've not updated anything in the dashboard. Do you think it could still be a port issue?

Could you try giving the MR a factory reset as well.

Otherwise you'll need to attach to the local status page and see why it is unhappy.

Have you tried rebooting the Virgin Hub Router?

Yes, Virgin Hub has been rebooted and all is fine!

Thank you! I'm just performing the reset.

To connect to the local status page, do I need to log in using an IP address in a browser? Sorry for sounding so dumb!

Following the instructions in the link I provided about the local status page.

"To reach MR devices, the client must be wirelessly connected to the AP (using a configured SSID or the 'meraki-setup' SSID),".

Then use web browse to  http://ap.meraki.com.

Quick question, if we can't connect to an SSID because there is no internet connection can we access the local status page?

Thank you so much for trying to help us.

We've reset the AP but we still have the same problem.

I fear we won't be able to try connecting to the AP's IP address. I've read the instructions and it all completely baffles me! I'm not at the house where the AP is and I'm trying to explain to one of the support workers there what to do. It's like the blind leading the blind!!!

I'll have to wait until the morning and hope to find an IT guy to help us out!
