Meraki MS130-8P-I Device not found

Brand New to Meraki Cloud Dashboard.

I am unable to add or claim a Meraki MS130-8P-I device through the Meraki Dashboard. We do have a valid license, and we created the Organization network in the dashboard.

Can someone elaborate on the steps to add a brand new device to the Meraki Dashboard?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

did you get an error while claiming the device or do you not know how to claim a device'

Organization => Inventory, there on the right side the blue button claim device

here how you claim it.

Hi Mayur14,

Welcome to Meraki Community 🙂

Have you tried claiming the device in the Old UI version?

Top right corner in blue - change to "Old version".

Claim it by S/N and submit - Did it work?

If it's still not working:

  1. Open an Incognito/Private Chrome browser
  2. Start a HAR file
  3. Perform the Claim of the device on the old version of the page
  4. Save the HAR file and send it to Meraki Support Team.

Alternatively, after successfully download the HAR file, click on this link - https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/har_analyzer/

  • -> Upload the file
  • -> Look for any error codes different than 200 OK in the POST - Gtrl + F (Find) -> Copy/Paste "POST https://nXXX.meraki.com/" --> Change "nXXX" with yours.
  • -> What's the error code that you are seeing - 5XX, 4XX, 3XX?

How to setup the HAR file -

I'm getting an error while claiming the device.

ah...what does it say? could it be, that the device is still claimed in a different organization?

No, this is a brand new switch, and nothing is showing in the device list. There is only one organization with no devices in it.

Well then i guess you have to contact the cisco partner you bought it or open a support case.

I guess you used the right number to claim the order (12 digit)

Correct

Kind of a big deal

Are you claining the serial number of the device or the purchase order?

Currently, claiming only one equipment. Can you tell me any prerequisites before adding this to the dashboard ? Do I have to set up any commands in the Cisco MS130-8P-I Switch so it can communicate with the cloud?

no prerequisits on the switch needed...create an meraki org and then claim the order

Yup, created Meraki Org, created a network also, but no luck.

There is no prerequisite, either you are using the wrong serial number or you typed something wrong.

Did you get the serial number directly from the equipment label?

I suggest you contact your Meraki sales representative.

I have the correct serial number. I'll reach out to the Meraki Sales Rep.

Can you tell me what is -  Switchs (IOS-XE Versions 17.3-17.10.1): Generate a Cloud ID by running the "service meraki register" CLI config command on the device.

This is what the dashboard showed me.

This is for another model of switches that are called dual persona, they can work with both Meraki or traditional IOS-XE (catalyst). It has nothing to do with your case.

It is best to consult your Meraki sales representative.

Thanks for your input. I'll reach out to Cisco and will go from there.

Hi there!

I recommend reviewing Cannot Add Devices Using Cisco Meraki Order Number and Using the Organization Inventory. If you're still not able to claim the switch using the order number or serial number, please open a case with Meraki Support for further insight and assistance.

Cheers,
