I have some biometric devices connected to several MS250 switches, the connectivity bar shows green and orange intermittently displaying a message 'POE port was denied power'. I haven't found much info about it, I don't know if any of you have seen this before. Thanks!
my SW version is: 9.32
Solved! Go to solution.
This can occur if you have exceeded the PoE budget on the switch. If you go:
Switches/Switches/[select switch]/Power Tab
It will show you your available budget and how much you have used.
Failing that, what does the event log (next tab along) for the switch show when this happens?

Also note that some devices can dynamically vary their power also. So you might have enough power budget "right now" but not while the device is doing some particular operation.
If you find you are close to using your power budget up then this could be it.
This link tells you about the LED states. Search for the word "power":

It is that yes. It is going up and down.

Exactly which model switch do you have?
MS250-24P
MS250-48LP
MS250-48FP
it is a MS250-48LP
I see your options as:
1. Remove some of the load, and plug some of the devices directly into power (or use power injectors).
2. Upgrade to an MS250-48FP with has a 700W PoE capacity.
3. Add an MS250-24P (and potentially stack them) and and split the load between the switches. This will get you another 370W of PoE power (you need a minimum of another 48W).
yes thankfully we have some more switches, we also have poe devices there but I think we can split the load. I was not aware about this limit. Thanks again Phil.
CCTVs are all working good now, but biometrics devices are still seeing this alert in the port, even if I have only a couple of them in a MS 250 it will be like that, weird.
Mine is MS225-24P and this issue just occupied on 4 ports. Two ports connecting my APs and right now my two APs are offline.
Is there any other remedy to revive the ports?
