MS Switch as Layer 3 Routing for Management

I understand within Meraki, you can not have the Layer for the Management of "Core" switches on the that switch/stack itself.  It needs to be on an upstream device.

The whole reason for having it local would be so that I would not need to route through another devices to be able to reach my core devices.

Just wondering out load, a long time traditional Cisco guy.

Thank you

Since all Meraki devices are cloud managed and need Internet connectivity, does it really matter? You wouldn't have a need to reach your core device, it would just need to be able to reach the Meraki cloud.

As pointed out above - your switches need to be connected to the cloud to be seen in Dashboard. Its best to make the connections as redundant as possible and you can simplify the route to the gateway to achieve this.
