MACsec Alternative

MACsec Alternative

I'm looking for an alternative to MACsec for Cisco Meraki switches that can be handled by the Meraki switches themselves. I'm needing this to encrypt data in motion over a Layer 2 public fiber circuit interconnecting several buildings.

There is nothing that can be done on the Meraki switches itself. I use dedicated Catalyst 3560CX-8PC-S for this task.

We currently use the Catalyst 2960x series but have been looking to move to Meraki. Seems like I'm always running into a wall whenever looking to move to Meraki equipment.

Thank you for the information!

Yes, Meraki is not the platform for very special requirements. This is what the Catalyst etc. platforms are for.

But also with the restrictions on Meraki, I really prefer running the general network on Meraki with all its benefits and add specialised devices where needed. Like the 3560CX for MacSec, an ASA/FTD for extranet Site-to-Site VPNs or a Catalyst1000 or CBS as a WAN switch.
