As long as the switch can get its initial IP settings from your DHCP server, and at least one of the LAN ports can reach the Internet it should be ok, it may take a few minutes to start up first time, especially if it does a firmware update (you call tell what is doing from the status LED.)
If you have no DHCP, or there are firewall or VLAN restrictions, you may need to update those settings, or connect to the switch's local management page to give it an IP address etc.
