GBIC brings port up when not connected

With recent firmwares (on v17 now) if you insert a GLC-T GBIC into a port, it brings the port up, even if there is no cable plugged in.  I'm sure this didn't happen in earlier versions:

Does anyone else see this?

What model switch? 220-8? If yes I feel like that's always been that way from what I recall.

I checked and there was actually a bug on that all the way back in 2016.

I do think there might be a correlation between the new feature and the, er, new feature...

It is..., maybe I'd never plugged in a GBIC without a cable before.  I only did it this time to show someone else on the community what they should see when a GBIC was plugged in!
