licenses for cameras

for each camera in a network do you need a license for that camera

we have 71 cameras but 12 are online and the 59 are dormant

Every single Meraki device needs a license. Each Org gets given five free MT licenses but apart from that you need to procure licenses for everything else.

Also, a dormant status refers to a device that has been offline (unreachable) from the cloud for a specific period of time.  You might check Organization > Configure > License Info to see if these dormant devices  might have licenses but perhaps not recently connected to the cloud for a period of time.

You can also remove the dormant cameras from the network to remove the licensing requirements for them.

I would like to thank everyone for there replies , i'm just new to meraki and still trying figure out why some are working and others aren't , here is a screenshot does this mean they we have enough license for the cameras mvcameras.jpg

Yes, you actually have 46 spare licences (128-72), but you do need an MX68 license.  You should see a warning about how many days you have left before things stop working.
