Replacing Faulty MV

Hi, 

I am planning to replace MV32 that went faulty due to weather conditions with a new model. Since I'm new to this product, I would appreciate any guidance you could offer on the best practices for replacing the MV. 
I was considering connecting the new unit to the same switch port. Additionally, is there any cloning or configuration required for the new device, similar to what we do for other equipment?

You are in for a treat.  The newer cameras have MUCH better image quality.  Note that if you just replace the camera, you'll get the same image quality as now.  You'll need to go into the settings in the Meraki Dashboard and turn the image quality up.

This is for a different model camera, but this is where you configure it.

If you go to this URL there is a wizard where you can select what you want in a camera, and it recommends models:

If I select "Fixed-lens fisheye" and "Indoor" it recommends these models:

MV33M

MV33

MV32

 

I agree with @rwiesmann .  The MV33 is the most direct replacement.  The MV33M is like the MV33 but has much more storage, so much better retention.  I would lean towards the MV33M personally.

 

If you want ultra-high quality, removing the "Indoor" requirement, there is also the MV84X (it uses four cameras to create the 360-degree view):

This is a datasheet that allows you to easily compare the cameras.

And lastly, all the cameras use the same licence.  So you only need to buy the replacement camera - you don't need to pay for another licence (just remove the dead MV32 from the network).

I guess the natural replacement would be the MV33.

But you mentioned that the old one got faulty because of weather condition. Therfore you mid think of going for an outdoor camera. As the MV32 is a fisheye camera, the outdoort one would be the MV93 or the MV93X. The X has more storage.

Besides that there are other outdoor cameras available like the MV72, MV72X, but with other optical specification.

Thanks! And on the configuration part is anything else required other than assigning the same IP to the new MV?
