iOS Camera Format

Hi Guys,

Has anyone found a way in system manager to default the Camera format on iOS devices to "Most Compatible" so it saves as a jpeg?

@Andy100 This isn't possible as its the type of setting that Apple lets users choose rather than MDM's dictate. The only Cameras setting you can dictate is whether to allow use of the camera or not.

Hey Blake. It's been over two years since this was asked and I'm wondering if this has changed in the years since. I'd like to push this via MDM.

No because Apple has chosen not to allow MDM's to manage this setting. You need to contact Apple regarding this as all MDM developers are in the same boat. Until Apple allows this setting to be managed there is nothing that can be done.

Currently, Apple does not provide a way to configure the default camera format on iOS devices through Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions like System Manager. To manually change the camera format to "Most Compatible," you need to go to Settings, scroll down to Camera, select Formats, and then choose Most Compatible. This ensures that new photos and videos are saved in JPEG and H.264 formats instead of HEIF/HEVC.
