Unable to add a new MX 85 to an existing account

License xxx-xxx-xxxx is an Enterprise license, but your organization's existing license is for Advanced Security.

We currently have two MX67 devices registered under the same account with Advanced Security licenses.

Could this mismatch be the cause of the issue?

Or is there an alternative way to add the MX85 LC to the account?

What licensing model is your Org? Co-term, per-device, subscription?

Certain licensing models (e.g. Co-term) do not allow you to mix enterprise and adv sec licensing - so you either need to buy the adv sec license or add the MX to a new Org.

It is obviously co-term since that one enforces the unified license tier.

On the Organization -> licensing page you will see the MX product licensing tier.
This will be set to advanced security since your other MX has that license.

You cannot mix and match MX license tiers in the same org when using co-term licensing.

So you have a few options:

- If you DON'T use SD-WAN between the sites, then create another org and claim the MX and license there and just manage 2 orgs.

- If you DO use SD-WAN between the sites then you will have to make a choice.  Either return the enterprise license and get an advanced security license, OR downgrade the current advanced security license of the other MX device(s) in the org.  You will however lose all IPS/IDS, AMP and content filtering options and you will not gain any license periode this way.

Just FYI as of the 26th, you can no longer return licenses. You will have to upgrade/downgrade the existing/new respectively or use 2 different orgs.

As well as the above, you can contact support who can uplift the license type to advanced security at the cost of some of its duration.

Eg. They can uplift a 3 year enterprise to advanced but it will be cut down to less than 3 years.
