Is it necessary/possible to shutdown the warm spare before moving it to another core switch?
Same unit will be used in HA pair

@SouThong : Well In a scenario of HA setup where you set up Active/Passive, The MX that is currently acting as an Passive warm spare has no traffic passing through it. This is a dynamic designation. So if you disable there should not be any impact until unless your primary MX down and failover will not be happened.
As you disable the Warm Spare configs and you need to re-enable that in order to work again.

@SouThong : You want to disable the Warm Spare before removing one MX from the config ? Disable the Warm spare .. But your network has consequences. .Make sure you know what you are going to do
@SouThong are you intending to leave the existing MX400 as a single firewall, or are you simply moving the LAN connection from on switch to another?
The current master would be left as the single VPN concentrator.
I need to move the lan connection for the spare to another core switch.
Both spare and primary have wan connections and are using virtual uplink IPs.
If I disable the spare, presumably there would be no impact to services since the spare isn't really doing anything?
And if I do disable the spare, would it need reconfiguring again?
@SouThong if you convert and active/passive HA pair into a single unit then the traffic will go out of the remaining devices IP as opposed to the shared virtual IP that is currently being used. You could always set the physical device's WAN IP to the current virtual IP to minimise the disruption.
