MX18.208 AutoVPN Summarisation Bug

G’day!

Recently I hit some snags with MX18.208 on my MX105’s where AutoVPN routes are being summarised even though we haven’t configured any summarisation.

it seems very intermittent so we reached out to Support who confirmed it was a bug but I’m yet to see whether its been fixed in MX18.210?

Would anyone have any info around this and whether its been fixed?

That should have been fixed in 18.208. There is no mention of this in ,209,210. So I doubt its really fixed if you still see it in .208

"Resolved an MX 18.2 regression which caused MX appliances to summarize AutoVPN routes advertised through BGP without being configured to do so"

Getting noticed

I have seen an autosummary of OSP routes on a L3 Switch. For example, if you have a  10.1.1.0/30 and 10.1.1.4/30, learned on a MX by AutoVPN and advertised by OSPF to a L3 MS, it is summarized to 10.1.1.0/29. But when you have 10.1.1.0/30, 10.1.1.4/30 and 10.1.1.12/30, there was a summary 10.1.1.0/29 and a single specific route 10.1.1.12/30. There is no summary to /28. I supposed it to be a feature, not a bug. I did not find any information about it in the documentation.

In that case it seems like the correct thing as 10.1.1.8/30 isn't part of it, so 10.1.1.0/28 would be wrong.

Exactly. I had tested it to verify it. The behaviour is not documented, so I wanted to explore it in detail.
