Hi All,
I have a situation where MX spare device is calming to be as master for 2-5 second and then going to spare mode. Primary remains Master.
I can see VRRP events in event logs.
On Nexus device we can see MAC flap for MX device. There is no error on Physical port switch connecting towards MX.
Log from the switch:
Jul 4 09:28:39.869: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host cc03.d9ff.706d in vlan 203 is flapping between port Gi2/0/3 and port Gi1/0/3
Jul 4 09:31:15.931: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host cc03.d9ff.706d in vlan 203 is flapping between port Gi2/0/3 and port Gi1/0/3
Jul 4 09:31:27.801: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host cc03.d9ff.706d in vlan 207 is flapping between port Gi2/0/3 and port Gi1/0/3
Jul 4 09:31:59.691: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host cc03.d9ff.706d in vlan 203 is flapping between port Gi2/0/3 and port Gi1/0/3
Could you please suggest what else we can check in this to make VRRP stable.
Solved! Go to solution.
It's not the LAN port. It is an SVI configuration.
I'm talking about the port you configured as trunk.
I don't know if it will have any impact because I don't know your network.
But I've seen problems with VRRP because of the native VLAN.
I suggest testing in a maintenance window.
Hi ,
Have you opened a ticket ? Would be curious to check the status / health of the primary MX.
What firmware are you running ?
MX running on MX 18.107.2.
Are you running STP on the switch? Try removing the native VLAN on the MX port.
If I remove Native VLAN on MX, will it cause any outage ?
What is the configuration of the LAN port on the MX?
LAN port config is as below.
What about the bit below where you are specifying the trunk allowed/native VLANs, etc?
At first glance you have different VLANs on the MX to the switch...
Hi Jimmy
Thanks for your response. I have planned to correct the missing VLAN on switch side and MX LAN in MW.
I will monitor post changes and let you know.

I will test it in MW and monitor it.
Thanks again.
