MX Warm Spare Design Inquiry

Hi~

I know that for MX HA configuration, I need to run VRRP and for that I need one L2.

I was wondering if both of the following configurations would work?

If they do, isn't the configuration below more convenient because it doesn't have one more cable?

The last one is the meraki recommended (using lan for vrrp)

https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Deployment_Guides/MX_Warm_Spare_-_High_Availability_Pair

using direct link between mx + connection to the lan switches have caused loops in the past.

Thank you for your reply.

MX interlink and bottom link VLAN are different, can I still get a loop?
Cisco knows stp is per vlan, but meraki doesn't.

As stated by @ww , use the lower design, not the upper one with the direct link.  You'll curse yourself if you choose the top one...
