MX Temperature

We encountered a problem where a spoke MX appliance lost connectivity. Upon investigation, the device was found to be excessively hot. Rebooting the appliance restored connectivity.

Is there a method to obtain temperature readings or electrical data for MX 68 appliances?

Hi ,

If you go to Organization -> Summary Report -> Select this network , do you see anything anormal to the device utilization prior to the reboot ?

Utilization was at 3% and health score was 100/100.

Not specifically about the temperature, only the use of the device as mentioned.

The ideal is to install the equipment in a place that is properly cooled.

I have seen this issue many times with MX65s. It was related to PoE. Moving the PoE devices off the MX65s usually fixed it (or having them RMA'd).

I have never seen it happen on an MX68.

I have found that applying an external heat sink with double-sided thermal tape seems to help with the heat issues on the MX6x series. Here's a link to the heat sink I have been using:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X9L2SRP
