High Availabiliity

Good afternoon,

I am designing a new network. I need to set it up for High Availability. I have two MX 100 devices and two Wan connections. What is the best way to set up these two firewalls to do automatic failovers. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hello Tundra, you'll want to take a look at this documentation: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Deployment_Guides/MX_Warm_Spare_-_High_Availability_Pair

It goes over best practices you need to know regarding high availability. It also has a couple of diagrams with recommended topologies.

Here is an additional document if you're interested in how the HA failover behavior works: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Networks_and_Routing/Routed_HA_Failover_Behavior

@Tundra Make sure you have a /29 subnet from each ISP and use an unmanaged L2 switch on each to split the connection to the two MXs. You then have ISP and MX redundancy.
