Can i use two different MX versions in the same Network

Hello Folks,

Just curious to know if we can run two version of MX in same network ?

Eg: MX 100 to be Primary and MX95 to be Spare on the same network ? It was two MX 100 initially one got faulty so thinking if we can use MX95 instead of other MX 100 or not.

Another Question,

- Will there be any SYNC issue ?

- Any compatibility issue in upgrade ?

You can't , must be same model.

"Note: The spare MX must be the same MX model as the primary. Warm spare functionality is not supported between different MX models"

Hi @Amir_Khurshid , as already mentioned the models must be the same.

if one of the MX100’s is faulty why not have it RMAd by support?

@DarrenOC Irony is Cisco shipped MX95 as replacement to MX100.

That is what surprise me unless MX 100 is EOL so now they are using MX95 in place of MX100...

Thank you for the response Guys, appreciate your time.

That's exactly it. MX100 has been end of sales for 3+ years and the recommended replacement is the MX95.

If this was a replacement as part of a support case and the MX100 was in a HA pair they should send you two MX95s (and convert the license key in your dashboard).
