Is ECMS just a training?

I might be missing something here, but according to my manager, the ECMS 1 & 2 used to be a certification and prerequisite for the CMSS. It looks like it's just a $900 training that prepares you for the CMSS. Am I missing something, or has it always been like this, and my manager is just mistaken? I have dug through tons of sites and Meraki community posts and haven't found anything definitive.

Additionally, how does the CMNE-F compare to the ECMS 1? They both appear to be pretty basic but the CMNE-F can be taken for free through the learning hub.

Kind of a big deal

No, you don't need to do these trainings if you don't want to, as they are not a prerequisite for taking the test. If you take the test blueprint and study all the content covered using other materials, there is no problem at all.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Hi DanD,

Exactly as alemabrahao mentioned, ECMS is a training that helps you gain the core knowledge and skills needed to deploy, plan, design, implement, and operate complex Cisco Meraki solutions. This training combines Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions Part 1 and 2 trainings.

This course will prepare professionals aiming to obtain the Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist Certification.

This training prepares you for 500-220 ECMS exam

To obtain the Cisco Meraki Solution Specialist Certification, a candidate must take and pass the Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions (ECMS 500-220) exam. This exam is a 90-minute proctored test that focuses on assessing a candidate’s knowledge and skills.
