The correct answer is.... 1! We can use device tags (in this case, AP tags) in order to set the scope for the SSID availability feature. For more details about the types of tags, please visit the document article below:

This is a good question. When thinking about each possible answer you can easily cancel out all but two answers. And then you are left with one obvious correct answer and one that you just have to know that it is not correct.

Spoiler
1) is the obvious answer, 2) is the answer where you could think that it should be possible in a template, but it is not.

2

Device tags are descriptors for Device type in System manager.

Network tags are descriptors you can apply to APs

You can apply tags to APs, and then go to

SSID availability-
Per-AP availability

Then change to "This SSID is enabled on some APs".

You then get to select tags.

I'm with you on this one @Dustin_Hollis. We use network tags exactly as you are describing - to control the broadcasting of a specific SSID for our wireless bridge APs that connect the shop Lincoln Electric welders to the network.

The tag allows the wireless bridge APs (MR30Hs) to broadcast the BRIDGE SSID while ignoring our other production SSIDs. This allows us to get the welders on the network without having to run cables to them, and also prevents nearby wireless clients from connecting to the MR30Hs that we want to use exclusively for the welders.

I don't see the answer listed anywhere officially yet, but I'm with you that number 2 is correct.

Internet of things indeed! I didnt know Welders need to be connected to the wireless network!

You wouldn't think welding machines would need to be connected, but they are! At least here. Lincoln Electric has a program that allows us to track the usage and performance statistics. I work for a major structural steel fabricator (we build the giant erector set pieces that are used to build skyscrapers). The data that is collected is invaluable to improving production.

Truly a segment of the Internet of Things.

And now look again *which* Tags you use there. The ones assigned to a network or the ones assigned to an AP.
